A Breath of Fresh Air

Chicken Mushroom Bowl, Nasi Liwet Ayam Bakar, Matcha Latte
& Kopi Susu Blok M

Wow, it’s been a while since the last time this blog went on a culinary adventure, hasn’t it? Do you miss it? Well, I sure do. And this one, in particular, has been on my list for months. Located on a small corner of Blok M Square, this eatery is such a breath of fresh air—not only because it is filled to the brim with wonderful indoor plants, but also thanks to its atmosphere which is very different for the area. They offer a great selection of food and beverages—spanning from western to eastern cuisine—that is perfect for just about anyone.

Agung and I opted for opposite ends of the spectrum—I got myself a creamy, western meal, while Agung picked a fulfilling, local delicacy. He also topped that off with their signature drink: Es Kopi Susu Blok M. The food was very fresh, hearty and delicious—and the portion is just perfect. The drinks, however, were a little too sweet for our taste—although still pleasant nonetheless.

My favourite part about this eatery is that it’s also a knick-knack and plant store, which means aesthetically pleasing merchandise and greeneries galore. Even the toilet looks so cute! But Agung wouldn’t let me take a picture. Walking out of this place is akin to walking out of Narnia, believe me.

Although our trip to this place was short of impromptu, I actually planned this outfit in the hopes of making it here at some point that day. Such a floral outfit for a floral shop—perfect, no? The shirt is very obviously floral—and you might be very familiar with it by now—but so is the blazer, mind you.

This blazer came in with the box that contains my late Grandma’s old clothes. I just recently went through it and I found this beautiful blazer—which looks like it came straight out of a CLAMP manga. That makes me really happy. I couldn’t believe I get to wear something this unique in real life and it’s a hand-me-down from my beloved Grandma! She did always have such great taste, rest her soul.

Another star of the show, I think we can all agree, is this newly-purchased pair of Dr. Marten boots. I know, I know, controversial—I’m not entirely gullible to their claims to sustainability, but at least I know their products will last for years, so that should mean sending less to landfills. Also, this pair is the 2976 vegan series, so it’s not all bad…I hope. Not to mention I’ve wanted chelsea boots ever since I sold these ones. That’s got to be a win-win situation, right?
