Plant-Based: Sprout

 Sprouts Noodle Parlor

Not long before this whole self-isolation thing was imposed upon us, Agung and I managed to make our way to this newly-opened vegan noodle parlour quite close to the office. I found it on Instagram shortly before the date and found it so interesting that we both decided to try it out. No, Agung and I aren’t vegans, mind you, but we do take a special interest in vegan food.

This place is located in a somewhat shabby area on the side of the Fatmawati street. When we went there, the place was pretty much deserted except for this little eatery. We walked in and was guided to order our meal through these PC tablets on little podium-like contraptions—a new experience. I tried the noodle and Agung got the bao—both were scrumptious, somewhat gooey and very filling. We also tried the green mylk latte, which was really refreshing. We walked out of there feeling filled to the bones, it was marvellous. Gosh, how I miss going out for food again!

One of the things I miss most during this whole pandemic craze is being able to go on dates with my beloved. I miss trying out new places to eat or getting on a motorcycle together. I miss being able to be out so late at night and just hanging out at the nearest McDonald’s until dawn. Hell, I miss just being able to cuddle close to my loved one. It’s so heartbreaking that numerous couples are forced to be in an LDR right now and, as someone who’s done it for years before, I’m so not enjoying it.

What if this goes on forever? Will this be the new norm now? What will ‘normal’ mean for us after all this is done and dusted? Honestly, I’m not sure things are ever going to be the same again. Maybe it’s for the best. Maybe the world is in dire need for some change. If at all, at least, I really hope there’ll be a better earth for us after all this.
