Midnight Diner

Iced Shaken Apple Tea, Campfire Shake, The Classic & Cheese Overload

Tis the weekend before Ramadan when Agung and I decided to check out a new place to eat in the city. For some reason—despite having had hot dogs only the previous weekend—we went out for yet another piece of bratwurst on a bun. This time at a little establishment located at the heart of Panglima Polim, one of our favourite haunts. Just like its name, this place has two kinds of specialty: hot dogs and milkshakes.

The place looks like a tiny ’60s American diner with a subtle Christmas vibe, with several holly bushes adorning the place—not sure if it’s entirely intentional or they simply forgot to take it down. It definitely gives a strong ‘Baby, It’s Cold Outside’ vibe. We ordered two different ‘dogs: The Classic and Cheese Overload, of course.

We love the texture and taste of the sausage and the bun is on the soft side. I love how they use different kinds of cheeses too! My love had to try the shake, of course, and we chose Campfire—which is a taste S’mores blend. Their Apple Tea is not too shabby either, though! Would love to go back and try the rest of the menu.

This visit was made on my way back home after spending the weekend at Agung’s family’s house. We spent the previous day eating out and strolling around in Bekasi. It was the first time we’ve done that—usually we just spend the day at home. It was really fun and I got to explore more of Bekasi, yay! On our adventure, I stumbled upon this local designer brand called Herheine. It instantly caught my eye, as its designs are so unique and really speak to me. I mean look at this top! It’s actually part of a gorgeous set—and, already, I could see myself wearing this ensemble ten ways to Sunday.

As you know, I don’t really shop for clothes much anymore—except from truly ethical brands—but I had to snatch this piece straight away. It was perfect since I’m running out of homewear items—they’ve all developed holes now. Little did I know that Agung’s Mum was going to buy me a night dress to wear at home the next day. Oh, gosh! I’ll cherish it to pieces, for sure!

P.S: I bought a dress from the same brand when I got home, watch this space to see it!
