Last week Agung and I went to see Europe on Screen. You may know from last year how obsessed we are with this festival. And, after a couple years of the pandemic, the festival is finally airing fully offline again—which is kind of bittersweet, because I enjoyed catching half the films online last year. Last week we caught our first film, Somewhere Over the Chemtrails—which is a quirky and hilarious film by an up-and-coming Czech director.
Originally, we were going to watch another film earlier that day, but since I got the schedule mixed up—and was also pretty beat from the intense overtime I had the night before—we ended up with only one film.
And so, since we had a lot of time to kill before the screening, we decided to stop by this little tea bar at Panglima Polim. We’d been here once before just to hang out and work on a side project. We liked it so much that we thought we’d come back to chat and relax.

It’s Tea Time!

Noon Tea Bar
It’s probably pretty self-explanatory from the name—Noon Tea Bar sells mostly tea, or you know, beverages. The idea is basically similar to a boba bar, except the boba isn’t necessarily the main attraction here. The first time we were here, Agung ordered their Classic Milk Tea and I opted for their Afternoon Coffee. We both really enjoyed our drink, although I kind of regretted why I didn’t pick a more refreshing option—which is the whole reason for coming back, really. The second time around, I went with their Orange Green Tea. It was super refreshing and the taste just hits the spot!

Other than drinks, though, they also sell snacks—both sweet and savoury. Well, it’s basically two menu series: croffle and fries. Since I’m more a savoury girl myself, I decided to order their Truffle Fries the second time around. I have to say I couldn’t really taste—or smell—the truffle almost at all, but I liked its saltiness very much and ate it up like nobody’s business anyway.
The tea bar is located in a complex of other eateries and hangout spots—which offers such a nice ambience. Noon’s place itself is rather compact, where you can literally see the whole area from the moment you walk in. If you want to just sit back, relax and chat with your friends, this is a great place to do it. But, if you want to hustle and work on your computer for hours, I wouldn’t recommend it.
Price-wise, everything on the menu is pretty affordable—more on the cheap side, really—and the quality is definitely worth the price. Perhaps next time I’ll try the drinks with boba toppings.

Just Chill & Spill
Wow, it’s been so long since the last time I did a life update on this blog. How shall I put it? Life has been…insane lately. I feel like for the past month or so, I haven’t been able to really breathe. Work has been taking over my life in a way that terrifies me. Overtime has been pretty excessive lately, despite there being a recent addition to my team. Sometimes when I’m on my commute or in the shower, I wondered how it was possible that work became more unbearable just when I’ve had more help. How, I tell you, how?!
As a result, my life has felt like a broken record player lately. It’s a very set routine time and time again. You wake up, you go to work, you have lunch, you chase deadlines, you go home (late), you eat dinner, you shower, you go to sleep—and repeat. When weekend rolls around, you’re always too tired or lethargic to do anything that brings meaning to your life in a way work can’t. Come Monday, you hate yourself again, because you haven’t given enough time for you to be you.

For a while, I have been looking for ways to explore myself. There are a number of side projects in the works—some of which are really a continuation of an old project—and I’ve also been looking to rekindle forgotten hobbies to keep myself sane. Bobon’s existence in my life surely helps a lot, but she alone is not enough. This Europe on Screen has also been pretty helpful.
However, when work starts to bleed into my personal life—and that’s what’s been happening lately—it takes away all the time I should’ve had to be able to do that. Don’t get me wrong—I’ve evaluated myself a lot. I wondered if it was my fault that that happened. But I came at a blank, because I swear I work just as hard as anyone else—if not harder—so how come it’s not serving me well?
All in all, I’d just like to update you guys on what’s been happening with me lately. I’d love to tell you about my side projects soon, but not a moment sooner. My plan is to blog more thoughtfully in the future. So stay tuned!
