My go-to snack of the moment: |
Currently Reading: Dune – Frank Herbert
Wow, it feels like Indonesia is falling behind with COVID-19 compared to the rest of the world. In fact, in case you’re not up-to-date, this country has become the new epicentre of the pandemic in the world! Congratulations! 👏
Sarcasm aside, here’s a little peek of what it feels like from inside the nation: it’s hell. Everyday we hear news of people either asking for blood infusion, in search of emergency rooms or—God forbid—dying. Too many people I know had got infected or lost someone from this disease. Even after a month of being confined at home for most of us, the number keeps rising somehow.
Not going to lie, it’s looking pretty bleak from the archipelago. What hurts more is the fact that the rest of the world seems to start living the ‘old normal’ again—fully vaccinated, going mask-free and gathering in crowds. How can it be that we live on the one same earth yet look like we’re universes apart? I haven’t seen my love, friends and colleagues in at least a month, yet the rest of the world are going to concerts and travelling again. Don’t even get me started on the discrepancy between what the government does and what the people need. It’s unreal how bad it’s gotten.
Hand-me-down t-shirt + pants
To be honest, I’m one of the lucky ones, who get to work from home and still have my needs met. It has given me the opportunity in other ways that I wouldn’t be able to do otherwise.
For starters, I’ve developed an ongoing habit of working out in the morning—please root for me to keep this going forever. Other than that, I also have more time now to read and have finished 3 books in the span of less than a month. Now, I’m moving on to Dune, which I’ve loved so much so far. I also snack more, though, which I try to stick to healthy snacks—fruits or vegetables and cheese.
Lately, I’ve been wanting to experiment in the kitchen more. Being stuck at home has also allowed me to re-evaluate myself in a lot of ways—including illustration. The other day I finally got back to it again—after months of not giving it my all, this being the last one of such work. It makes me kind of miss illustrating freelance again—commissions are open, guys, if you’re interested. Lastly, I’m so grateful for being able to give to those in need whenever I can—which I do now and then. If you’re in a lucky position, I urge you to do the same. Start small, think big.
