Avocado (Soy) Milkshake

As I’ve mentioned in my previous post: life seems quite overwhelming lately. Two days ago, I just got back from an out-of-town camping trip with my campus and it was plain exhausting – most of all, since I came back alone quite late into the night. On top of that, I’m currently feeling under the weather. So, in the midst of such a whirlwind, I really don’t want to have to come up with an incredibly tedious and elaborate recipe.

But, obviously, I still want to share my adventure in the “kitchen” with you guys. So today I thought I’d introduce you to a very simple, nutritious and – not to mention – tasty drink. It will energise you like never before. Also, it combines two of my favourite food/drink: avocado and soy milk. Of course, you don’t have to use soy milk – it’s my personal preference for a while now. Hope you like it!

Ingredients

  • 1 avocado
  • 500 ml soy milk
  • 2-4 tbsp. sugar (or to taste)
  • 8-10 ice cubes, to taste
  1. Cut the avocado in half, spoon the flesh out and put it into a blender
  2. Pour the milk into the blender
  3. Add the ice cubes on top
  4. Blend it for 1-2 minutes on high speed
  5. Add the sugar in then blend again for another 1-2 minutes
  6. Once the everything’s well-mixed and crushed, pour it into a glass
  7. Slurp! Yum!

Tips: Make sure to pick a ripe avocado for this! If it’s not ripe yet, it will leave a bitter taste in your mouth. Also, an unripe avocado will be hard to spoon, so be careful! The milk I’m using is actually multi-grain, which means it consists not only of soy beans, but also brown rice, wheat and other grains. You can add more taste by adding chocolate syrup or any other syrup that you like. If you’re not drinking it, keep it refrigerated so that it will last longer. Of course, a warm variety is available, just heat up the drink after you’ve finished blending it – and add no ice! Lass euch schmecken!
