Life Through the Lens v.03

By the time you are reading this, I would have already gotten back from Makassar, South Sulawesi. But that is a story for another time—for now, let’s go back in time long before the Independence Weekend Trip. As you may remember last time, I last got my film roll developed right around the Eid holiday back in May. That was also when the story of this roll started, which I had developed right before the aforementioned trip. You know, they say third time’s the charm—and I agree. This roll finally feels filled with frames that captured the moments I want to cherish—although a lot of them still have the photographer’s fingers in frame (lol).

Perhaps it wasn’t only the fact that I have gotten better in taking analog photos. Perhaps the eventful nature my life in the past 3-4 months is also a major factor. For starters, we just happened to start adopting our cat when this roll first started. Agung and I also started to explore historical sites, museums and exhibitions more lately—they started to be more regularly available to visitors. These things of course helps become interesting subjects to shoot. Other than that, I also become more conscious to bring my analog camera pretty much everywhere I went, allowing the mundane details of daily life to be captured in frame.

As always, I am eternally grateful to Anak Analog for developing these photos so very quickly. They never bat an eyelash at my request for help in inserting the new roll and the resulting photos always turn out so beautifully. Maybe next time—after the current roll I’m on, of course—I will learn about analog photography more deeply so I can try out other kinds of films, insert my own roll and maybe even buy a new and more advanced camera. I mean, here’s hoping but we shall see.
